Jags forced to act

By The Associated Press

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The agent for Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier says his client is making gradual improvement from gunshot wounds but is "not out of the woods yet."

Collier, a former Valdosta State standout, remains in critical but stable condition at a Jacksonville hospital but agent Jeff Jankovich tells the Florida Times-Union he's encouraged by what limited knowledge he has of Collier's condition. He says Collier's family "seems pretty upbeat he's going to make it."

Collier suffered life-threatening injuries early Tuesday when he was shot several times while sitting in his sport utility vehicle.

The Jaguars placed Collier on the reserve/non-football injury list yesterday.
