FORT MYERS, Fla. - The effort to keep the Red Sox in Southwest Florida is getting more intriguing.

Fenway's Green Monster is the most famous feature in any ballpark and if the Red Sox have their way, we'll see one right here in Southwest Florida.

Lee County Parks and Recreation Director John Yarbrough told wink news that the Red Sox want their new spring training home to be a replica of Fenway Park, wherever that new home may be.

Of course, the Spring Fenway would have fewer seats.

Leaders met to discuss a new park for the Red Sox. Yarbrough says this isn't something that needs to be decided now. They’ve targeted the year 2012 to get something like this done.

The big question is: how does the county plan to fund a new facility like this? As of now, they don't know yet.
