National soccer tournament to be held in 2010 at International Polo Club Palm Beach
WELLINGTON, Fla. (AP) - The International Polo Club Palm Beach will host a national soccer tournament in 2010 that is estimated to generate at least $7 million for the area.
The American Youth Soccer Organization announced this weekend that Palm Beach County will be the site of its 2010 National Games. The county beat out places like southern California and eastern Tennessee. An estimated 24 boys and girls teams - from under-12 to under-19 divisions - will compete on 30 fields at the polo grounds during the July 4 weekend two years from now. That is expected to bring about 10,000 to 15,000 spectators who could spend an estimated $9 million around the area, according to the sports commission, which put up a $25,000 grant to secure the tournament. --- Information from: The Palm Beach Post, http://www.pbpost.com (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
