Son's call to 911 accidently gets his father arrested for growing marijuana

By WINK News

Lee County - A son's untimely call to 911 helped land his father in jail for growing marijuana.

The son was in an accident in 2004 and suffers from some mental problems.

Deputies say he called 911 because he had been inside too long.

There was no real problem with the son, but after the son pointed it out- deputies did have a problem with the 6-foot tall marijuana plant in the backyard.

Deputies arrested 48-year-old Gnarine Persuad on one count of growing marijuana. He is still in jail until he can post a $75-hundred dollar bond.
