GULFPORT, Fla. (AP) - The 14-year-old Gulfport boy arrested after dialing a wrong number and offering to sell drugs to the person on the other end has been released from custody.
Police say the boy, who is not being identified, happened to call the home of a police detective -- Matt Parks.
A police report says Parks arranged to meet the teen in the parking lot of a school to buy an ounce of marijuana and some crack cocaine. When the boy showed up Sunday, he was arrested on charges of possession of 18 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute within one-thousand feet of a school.
The 22-year-old driver of the car the boy was riding in was arrested as a principal, as well as for driving with a suspended license.
Police say the teen likely dialed a random number to try to drum up new business.
