ELLENWOOD, Ga. (AP) - Ashamed for his crime, a robber scrawled a note on the church wall: "Sorry but I'm poor. Forgive me Lord."
The Rev. Roger Davis would rather invite his church to take up an offering for someone rather than have them turn to crime. Berean Baptist Church has been robbed four times in the last two years. Expensive equipment including microphones and a laptop containing important records were stolen over the weekend by the robber. The robber broke through locks and into the church's safe, but the safe was empty at the time.
The church is located south of Atlanta.
