DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - Run afoul of the Durango city council? Not for one visitor. An unidentified person wearing a chicken costume entered the council meeting as its members discussed rules for backyard fowl.
The mayor was discussing a recently-passed backyard hen ordinance when the "chicken" arrived. The costumed chicken took a few turns, flapped its "wings," then took a seat in the nearly empty gallery.
A few minutes later, the visitor inexplicably left - without explaining the visit or identification. The person lay an egg on the floor.
Council members found the visit humorous but confusing. The council voted 3-2 earlier this month to ease restrictions for the care and ownership of backyard chickens.
