SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - What is this cow doing in a swimming pool? Not the backstroke. A Monday night tremendous splash leads to a 911 call and an amazing discovery: A 650-pound cow in a Kathey Wyaderny's backyard swimming pool.
The cow entered the covered pool likely because it perceived the cover to be as solid ground. The Anderson resident declared that the cow belongs to her neighbor.
Wydareny was startled awake by the "giant whoosh" sound and seized her flashlight to investigate. She called 911 when she discovered the source of the fright.
Five men from the county rescue team worked together to liberate the cow from the pool using a sling.
The cow is doing well.
