Punta Gorda Sex Solicitation Arrest

By WINK News

Police bust a Punta Gorda man they say used the Internet to try to lure a young girl to meet him for sex.

Twenty-four-year-old Adam Norsell allegedly sent messages with sexual content to a 14-year-old girl in Bradenton, Florida.
Authorities say while they were controlling the young girl's account, Norsell made plans to meet her for a sex.
According to authorities he traveled from his home in Punta Gorda to Bradenton where he was arrested.

Officials say parents should know how their kids use the Internet.

Investigators say the 14-year-old did the right thing by telling her parents when the chats turned sexual.
The Tampa Cybercrimes Task Force took over her chat account and discovered the suspect was using his cell phone to communicate with the girl.

"So many times, kids don't react that way, and tell their parents. Either out of fear of losing the computer, or fear of getting in trouble, or even sometimes out of embarrassment. We want parents to sit down talk with their children and open up those dialogs," said Lt. Michael Baute of the Florida Attorney General's Office.

The cyber crime unit was formed about a year ago.
In that time, they have made approximately 15 to 20 arrests for similar crimes.
