AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Lance Armstrong is recovering from surgery on his broken collarbone.
His surgeon says Armstrong's collarbone was broken in four pieces, making the surgery more challenging. Dr. Doug Elenz inserted a steel plate and 12 screws to stabilize the collarbone.
Elenz says the 37-year-old cyclist was in surgery for about three hours Wednesday and must take a few days off before he can resume training on a stationary bike.
Armstong has said he still hopes to ride in the Giro d'Italia in May and the Tour de France in July.
