Attorney: Casey Anthony prepared 'for the worst'

Attorney: Fla. girl's mom prepared 'for the worst'

By The Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The lawyer for the mother of a missing Florida girl won't say whether he expects her to be indicted on homicide charges.

But attorney Jose Baez tells the "Today" show Thursday that he and 22-year-old Casey Anthony have been preparing for the worst.

Three-year-old Caylee Anthony was reported missing in July, but her mother tells police she hasn't seen the girl since June.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said last week that Casey Anthony is a suspect in Caylee's disappearance, though she hasn't been charged. She has been charged with child neglect and making false statements.

Baez says authorities are giving up on their search for Caylee by trying to make a case against his client.

The sheriff's office has declined further comment on the case.

I always had the understanding, and according to state and federal law, one can not be convicted without evidence. No body, no conviction?

I think that they need to put her in a room and let her what video after video of little caylee.Maybe she will tell them some are go crazy. An they need to charge the mom she already knew that casey was a big liar. and she going alone with all her story.

Well spoken Granny, you took the words right out of my mouth... I don't think she did it on purpose, but she still deserves to pay !

What about grandma Cindy and grandpa George. Why isn't there any accountability placed on them. Did grandma Cindy EVER see the supposed nanny? Isn't it reasonable to think that if the nanny worked for mom Casey for so long, that Cindy and George would have met her?? at least once!

Innocent until proven guilty. Even though we think/know she is guilty

If she was innocent why isn't she talking and why isn't she proving that the girl was with the babysitter like she says.

People need to stop being so afraid of calling a duck, A Duck!! Stop feeling sorry for the wrong person. That baby deserves to be found and either taken care of or properly buried. I feel in my heart the child is gone. I also feel this girl may have accidentally killed her by giving her Chloroform' so she would sleep in the trunk of her car while she partied with her friends but gave her too much and the child died. Nice to know the little thing is with God and away from such a cruel world.

I just wish that if she did it, that she would tell the police where that baby is... I really feel sorry for her when she goes to jail!!!

I agree with Curious, what type of monther does not report her child missing???Child neglect charges are only the beginning...

Obviously the authorities must have enough evidence to charge her with homicide even without a body. I only wish that Casey would tell the truth and not fabricate all the stories she has. What kind of "mother" does not call authorities the minute their child goes "missing" but instead goes shopping and bar hopping. That right there, in my opinion, proves that she is guilty.
