Sarah Palin at Germain Arena
SOUTHWEST FLORIDA - Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke to a packed house at Germain Arena Monday afternoon.
Right off the bat, Palin addressed all of the hockey moms that fill Germain Arena to watch the Florida Everblades. Less than 10 minutes into the speech you could hear anti-war protestors who were quickly escorted out of the arena. Palin told them she has a son in Iraq fighting for their freedom to protest. There was also a group of pro-Obama students who were escorted out for their chanting. Republican Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott was one of the introductory speakers at Governor Palin's rally. Scott used Senator Obama's middle name “Hussein”. "Ladies and gentleman, there are three types of people in our country today. There are people that make things happen, there are people that watch things happen, and there are people that wonder what happened. On November 4th, on November 4th, let's leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened," said Scott. There was a huge roar from the crowd at the rally when Sheriff Scott made that comment. Ever since it aired it has exploded on websites across the country. According to the CBS News website, the Palin camp has issued this statement: “We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character, and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November.” Back in February, Cincinnati radio show host Bill Cunningham referred to Senator Obama using his entire name. Senator McCain immediately distanced himself from Cunningham saying Senator Obama should not be referred to that way. |

I aint been intreseted in politics until now and I do not agree with Obama for president because we are at war with his religion. Nothing against Muslims but they did try to ruin our country. I think McCain & Palin belong in the white house. They at least are not a religion that wants to blow us up

Apalling,Scott appears in uniform promoting a political candidate as well as running for his own office-- making comments to instill fear in people. Complete abuse of power and I hope that he is investigated and found guilty of violating the Hatch law. Those of us who watch and read things beyond Fox news, know that all of the 'Obama is a Moslem' garbage is just that-- garbage and lies. Bush and McCain have created more future terrorists with their foreign policy then ever existed before.

Go Mike, you rock.He nailed it when he said Barack could change his middle name if he wanted. How can he be offended it's his name!Or should he be known as Barack H.Obama.Let's talk about the Dem's busing homeless folks to vote in Ohio.Another tactic not needed if Obama is soooo far ahead!

HUSSEIN, HUSSEIN, HUSSEIN! IT'S BARACK'S MIDDLE NAME! BE PROUD OF IT! THAT'S THE NAME THAT HIS PARENTS GAVE HIM! PLEASE DON'T ACCUSE ANYONE FOR USING HIS NAME! THAT'S UNFAIR! IT'S FAIR AND JUST TO ADDRESS HIM AS BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. THAT'S HIS OFFICIAL BIRTH NAME! GET OVER IT! GROW UP!

Go McCain and Palin - who wants a President with a middle name Hussein anyway? It's not Mike Scott's fault that's Barrack's middle name! Are Dem's afraid of Obama or what? They should be...Go McCain and Palin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"McCain is the only candidate who has literally fought for our Country - thank Sarah Palin!" actually, Biden is a war veteran. second of all, It's a middle name. Which therefore means that it shouldnt be held against him, and the republicans are wrong for doing that. that also means, in turn, that we as democrats should not make a big deal about it if a republican states his middle name. because if it is only a name like we say it is, why are we getting on their backs for saying it?

Dems want Obama to win so bad they are grasping at straws. They can look past his association with a man that set bombs off in the 60's and spent 20 years going to church where the pastor preached against the US and white people. They say love is blind, I guess Obama supporters are too!

I was unable to get in, so sorry that I couldn't see her in person, but glad it was posted here. She is a good women and would be a Good VP. Sheriff Scott doesn't have to apologize to anyone, that's Barack's name. The current movie W is referring to President Bush's middle name, which is Walker. They didn't say George Bush, they just call him W. That could be taken as disrespectful too,but off course that's hollywood. They don't respect anyone except People like Barack,or Clinton, need I say more

This whole comment was taken out of context. The sheriff said it just like he would have said anyone else's name. The media is just trying to grip on anything they can to discredit anyone they can. Why should we not be able to use Barrack Hussein Obama? It is his name after all... If he doesn't want people to use it in any context, he should have it changed.

He used his middle name, BIG DEAL! Way to go MIKE SCOTT!!! If it were anyone elses middle name said, no one would have cared. Stop making such a big thing out of it, its just plain stupid! McCain-Palin are going to the white house, not BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!!!

Does it really matter if his middle name is Hussien? I think it's another cheap republican tactic, that tries to promote propaganda into the minds of ignorant people. So if my last name was Escobar I would have to live my life dealing with people prejudging me because of my last name? This country is really something!!

Everyone here needs to stop this nonsense. The sheriff obviously used Obama's middle name as an attack at his morality and to beat the dead horse that Obama is a muslim. I thought our county officials would rise above such use of blatant ignorance.
