FBI helping in Denise Amber Lee murder investigation

By WINK News

NORTH PORT, Fla. - WINK News was first on the scene as the FBI and local police search for evidence in the Denise Amber Lee case. Lee is the North Port mother who was kidnapped from her home, raped and murdered in January.

From the very beginning, people across the country have been captivated by this case and that includes the FBI. They’re assisting local law enforcement trying to find any new evidence that can help them in court.

For hours in the August heat, dozens of law enforcement officials searched the waters off Toledo Blade Boulevard.

Detectives from North Port, Charlotte County and Sarasota County have worked endlessly gathering new evidence against accused killer Michael King. Now the FBI divers joined that search.

Officials wouldn't say if they found any new evidence or the gun that killed Denise Amber Lee.

The trial of the accused killer, Michael King, is set to begin November 17.
