Officials: Surfer gets bitten by shark

By The Associated press

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 26-year-old surfer was bitten by a shark off of Florida's eastern coast.

Beach Patrol officials say the man was sitting on his board in murky waters off New Smyrna Beach when a shark bit his lower left leg on Wednesday. Officials say his injuries were not life-threatening.

The man received treatment at the scene and was driven to a hospital by a friend.
