Storm surge hits Everglades City

By Maggie Crane, WINK News

EVERGLADES CITY, Fla. - Tropical Storm Fay makes landfall just south of Everglades City.

About two hours later, a storm surge began, causing the Gulf and surrounding estuaries to flood streets. Some people had to move their cars and even air boats to higher ground.

Many people in Everglades City consider themselves storm veterans, having survived Hurricanes Donna and Wilma as well as many tropical storms in between.

Guys, it was very ineresting chasing down the storm with you. My only regret is that I didn't make the final cut. Oh well, in any event, i'm glad I could help keep you company and and it was fun. Robert Bickel American Red Cross
