You guys just don't get it. OUR Sheriff, Mike Scott, is awesome. He does his best, as one human can do. Give him some credit. I see police officers on patrol every where I go. With the passing of Officer Widman, WE as a community should respect the officers on the street......making OUR community safe. Where we be without their commitment. You think guns are bad; imagine our streets without the police patrolling them. All of you out there should take a look inside yourself and try to help

More law abiding citizens with guns is the only way to combat these drug dealing, law breaking murderers that are on OUR streets. The Police dont come fast enough, and no one wants to help them, they cant be known as snitches, or their criminal friends will kill them too. Nice way to live life huh? You can say crime is going down MW, but I see murders in the news alot more than ever before, and our population has gone down, so how does that corrolate to the crime rate? Smoke and mirrors.

I think the sheriff is doing a good job. The deputies respect him, as the does the public in general. I agree we need to find a way to prevent the criminals from getting guns. As a gun owner and someone who has a concealed carry permit, I think gun dealers and gun owners need to be especially careful that they are keeping their guns secure. The dealers and thugs are stealing them, and we need to stop that from happening the best we can. Stay safe!

Gun's should be illegal to anyone under 35, unless your profession permits you to have one. Cowards use guns on the streets, because they obviously done't have a rearend to back up their mouth. It's very sad what this town/city is coming to! I feel bad for the younger kids that have to be raised in this town/city. Tony we love you and our heart goes out to his family. you will be in our thoughts and prayers!!!!

They get them by stealing them, buying them off the street and from sources out of town! and many other ways. There's unlimited possibilities as to how they get them. What people need to do is find a way to discourage them from getting them, pay attention to whats going on around your neighborhood and turn in suspicious activity for one.

Why so many guns on the streets and in the hands of 20 year olds? Maybe this is something the new sheriff will need to look into and take care of!

I said this before. We the people must arm ourselfs from these drug dealers and other criminals. Maybe they will get the message. In my neighborhood, east Fort Myers, I hear gunshots all the time. The only thing I can figure out is that since I have a scanner, I hear no response, and perhaps the shooter buries the victim in the backyard. Calling the police is not worth the effort, because they ask "how do know it was a gun shoot" and they will have the caller go through a supsect check.
