You will get through this. It's just one day at a time with friends and family to help. Please don't hesitate to ask for help. YOu will need it. Look in your children's eyes every day. They will give you strength as mine did. We have a job to do and you can do it. I did. God Bless you.

Thought your coverage of the funeral was good, I would have thought that having some of the aerial views of the procession going down Colonial would have been spectacular to see, along with the large crowd of people attending the graveside ceremony. Seems to me that it would have been a better indication of the magnitude of the situation.

GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND WATCH OVER THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN THAT SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES AND COUNTRY. THIS EVENT WAS SO SAD AND MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE WIDMAN FAMILY AND CO-WORKERS. I'M TOUCHED TO SEE HOW STRONG THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE WHEN IT COMES TO HONORING THEIR CO- WORKERS. ALL THE CRIMINALS OUT THERE SHOULD LEARN FROM THIS SENSELESS EVENT, THEY NEED TO REEVALUATE THEIR LIFESTYLES. OFFICER WIDMAN IS AN ANGEL FOR US ALL.

I am heartbroken for the loss of Officer Widman. My deepest sympathy to the Widman Family and the Fort Myers Police Department. I watched the funeral live today and was struck by the courage and strength of Mrs. Widman. No one should have to suffer such a loss. I am so proud of the residents of Lee County and everyone in the police departments who have made a difference. I would not live anywhere else. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Widman family and his family within the F.M.P.D. Your service is highly appreciated. The local law enforcement agencies handled this unnecessary situation with class and dignity. We have the best of the best here in Lee County and my utmost respect goes out to all of you in law enforcement. The way the L.C.S.D has bonded together to take over for the F.M.P.D is commendable and shows that we have a first class law enforcement community. God Bless FMPD.

Our hearts go out to all the family of Officer Widman and the Fort Myers Police force. Our son is an officer in Toledo Ohio and every time something like this happens it just brings it closer to home. It should not take a tragedy like this for the community to support our police force. They are there to do a job and should receive the upmost respect. When they go out to do their job there always is the chance they might come home. God Bless you all today, tomorrow and always.

I can't express the overwelming feeling of sorrow and pride that I felt, as I stood on Colonial Blvd.(at the bottom of the over-pass) as the police motorcycles, patrol cars, hearse, limos filed with family and all other emergency vehicles came over the top and drove pass myself and my husband as we paid our respects to Officer Widman, his family and law enforcement family. It was a site that I will never forget, and I hope that none of the other bystanders will either. God bless to everyone...

I am so saddened by the senseless death of this gentleman. I feel so much sorrow for the family and how their lives were changed over night. They say God work in mysterious ways. We question why???? He’s was an angel walking on earth and now this angel is with God watching over his family. We have lost a great person.
