FORT MYERS, Fla. - WINK News was first on the scene of a developing story in East Fort Myers.
Fort Myers Police are trying to determine how 60-year-old Dean Blietz died. His body was discovered at home at 3613 Fairview Avenue.
Police believe there are some suspicious circumstances in Blietz's death and want to conduct a full investigation. They are now calling it a homicide based on other evidence found at the scene.
Blietz was a runner-up for the Lee County Citizen of the year in 2006. He was very active in the community. Blietz was Chairman of the Community Awareness and Education Task Force. He was also very active in the Partners In AIDS Ministries and Good Wheels to name a few.
Police tell WINK News somebody called 911 and hung-up from that home. Police then arrived at the house and found a dead man.
Fort Myers Police are questioning one person in Blietz's death, but have not even called this person a "person of interest" at this point.
Fort Myers Police have not yet said how the man died.
