EAST FORT MYERS, Fla. - Two people are dead and a third person injured after a pair of shootings Tuesday night in East Fort Myers.

Fort Myers Police say they were responding to reports of shots fired at around 8:00 Tuesday night on Whitehead Creek Loop and Marsh Avenue. Officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at 1132 Whitehead Creek Loop. That victim died on the scene. He has been identified as Torry Chrisp.

A second victim, identified as Roman Gorden, was found at 1005 Marsh Avenue. He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released.

While investigating the shootings, police and a WINK News crew heard more shots fired just before 9:00. That shooting took place at the intersection of New York Avenue and Whitehead Creek Loop. Police say 30 year old Freddie Johnson died on the scene. Police tell WINK News there is a strong possibility he was an innocent bystander.

Detectives say they are actively following up on leads, however it is not clear whether the shootings are connected. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Myers Police Department at (239) 334-4155 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.

Roderick Brown lives near the scene of the first shooting. He wasn't home when it all went down, but he tells us there's a reason why it's so quiet in the Brookside and Whitehead Creek neighborhoods...fear.

"I'm one of them, I'm not going to lie to you, I'm one of them," he said. "A stray bullet doesn't know anyone."

A witness who declined to speak with us on camera tells us she heard the gunshots and hit the floor immediately.

She tells us masked men came in through the backdoor of the Brookside apartment where Chrisp and Gorden were playing cards with friends and began shooting at the men.

She says the masked men followed the men outside the front door and continued to fire as Chrisp ran across the street toward Whitehead Creek Loop. He died on scene.

But, perhaps what they find most disturbing, the shooting death of Freddie Johnson. Not only was he shot and killed with a large group of people and police nearby, but it's possible he may have been an innocent bystander. Police are still working to find out if that's the case.

The neighbor tells us he was getting his life back on track, for his children.

Johnson's family declined to comment at this time.
