Accused daycare shooter says nothing in court

By WINK News

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The man who police say opened fire at Bobbie Noonan Childcare Center, killing his wife appeared in court Saturday morning.

Forty-four year old Robert Harold Dunn is facing a first degree murder charge. Cape Coral Police say he went into the daycare center where his wife worked and shot her. Thirty-six year old Christine Louzier-Dunn was killed. Police say the couple's daughter was also at the daycare.

A representative from the State Attorney's Office spoke to WINK News right after Dunn appeared in court. "He didn't say a word," said Assistant State Attorney Marie Doerr. Doerr also tells WINK News Dunn has been placed on suicide watch in jail.

Dunn is scheduled to appear again in court late February.

No children were hurt in Friday's shooting. However it's unclear how many children at Bobbie Noonan childcare may have witnessed what happened.

For any parent or child having difficulty coping with the shooting, Cape Coral Police are providing counseling services on Saturday. Counselors from the Child Advocacy Center will be at the Cape Coral Police Department on Nicholas Parkway. The sessions will be there starting at noon in the community room.
