Four teens accused of breaking into 42 homes

By Nick Spinetto, WINK News

Four Naples teens are arrested for breaking into more than forty homes. They're accused of stealing some things and smashing other valuables.

The homes were in the Hitchin' Post Trailer Park in Naples.

"I'm glad they got caught. That's for sure," said Ken Munger.

A community left to pick up hundreds of pieces of glass, broken tables and damaged doors is resting easy after deputies say they arrested four kids responsible for causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the mobile home community.

"I was pretty devastated," said Munger. He lives next door to the mobile home community that was damaged. Munger says he keeps a watchful eye on the property since all the victims are seasonal and they haven't returned. He's relieved the suspects are caught, but stunned when he heard their ages. "It's hard to believe," he said.

One suspect is 16, two are 15-year-olds and the youngest is only 13. They live in a Naples neighborhood that borders the mobile home park.

Because the suspects are all teenagers, some believe the parents should have to pick up the bill.

"Either them or their parents should have to stand up for it and replace the cost," said Munger.

We went to the each of the teens homes to talk to the parents. Only two answered the door and they declined to to comment on the issue.

But residents in the area are willing to talk.

"I'm glad they're caught and they should be dealt with accordingly," said Munger.

Each teen is facing 42 counts of burglary of a dwelling, 44 counts of criminal mischief and 42 counts of grand theft auto.
