Country singer and North Fort Myers Native Mindy McCready is arrested for battery and resisting arrest.
The star was made famous by a string of country hits like "Guys do it all the time".
In recent years, she's been making headlines as a victim of domestic violence and a suicide attempt.
WINK News Reporter Nick Spinetto was first to get McCready's side of the story.
She didn't want to talk about her arrest on camera, but she told WINK News she's considering pursuing charges against the Lee County Sheriff's Office for what she calls brutality.
In McCready's mug shot, taken shortly after her arrest Saturday Morning, her nose is bleeding.
During an interview with WINK, McCready had bruises on her arms, neck and legs. She says deputies put them there. She also says she was starved in jail and maced for no reason.
But the Sheriff's Office tells a different story.
Deputies say they arrived at a home because of a domestic dispute. McCready's mom told them Mindy had been drinking and got violent.
The deputy saw scratch marks on the mother's face and says McCready smelled like alcohol. She denied her mother's accusations, even calling her mother "crazy".
Deputies say McCready resisted arrest, and had to be restrained, hitting her head on the ground - causing the gash you see on her nose.
After all that, McCready's Mom did not sign a written statement about what happened. McCready was still taken to jail. There, deputies say, she began acting disruptive so they used pepper spray to control her.
McCready tells WINK News, she plans to see a doctor on Monday and may visit a lawyer to file brutality charges against the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
