Tampa police cruiser struck by drunk driver

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa police say a man was drunk when he slammed his Hummer into a patrol car.

Jail records show that the driver of the Hummer, Stacy Smith, is being held at the Orient Road Jail on $500 dollars bond. Police say his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit in Florida. He was charged with DUI with property damage of personal injury.

Officer William Harris was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 3:30 Friday morning.
