Children rescued from burning home

By Josh Carroll, WINK News

IMMOKALEE, Fla. - Two Immokalee children are rescued from their burning home...thanks to a family friend!

The fire broke out inside a home on Dilsa Lane near Immokalee Drive around 6:00 Sunday morning.

The family says they're thankful for what their friend Adolfo Garcia did. They say Garcia just happened to be driving by... saw the smoke... and jumped in to action.

The intense flames gutted this home leaving it a burned shell. Cousin Brianna Presas remembers what happened in the pre-dawn hours.

"My Mom came in, yelling hysterically, wake up wake up, call the ambulance, there's a fire," said Brianna.

As Brianna was calling 911, she saw who's house was on fire - her cousins.

"First thing I thought was the kids, and..."

(Josh) What was going through your mind when you saw your cousin's house on fire?

"Ugh. I just prayed to God. I was like, please God, please let them be ok," said Brianna.

As the fire was burning through the home, a close family friend jumped in to action... risking his life to save two young kids.

Brianna said, "I was relieved and I thank God that he answered my prayers in time."

The kids were taken to the hospital to be checked out and are going to be just fine.

Soon, the question came to the family's mind, where was their mother?

"We have no idea. She said she went to work and who knows."

(Josh) But they were left alone?

Yup," said Brianna.

So as the family is counting their lucky stars that no lives were lost... they're ever so thankful for their brave friend Adolfo Garcia.
