Holiday Stroll street closings

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Streets are temporarily closed in the Fort Myers River District today for Holiday Stroll Opening Festivities.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, certain streets in the downtown Fort Myers River District will close for the Holiday Stroll opening festivities that will be held in the evening from 7-11 p.m.
From 8:00 a.m. until 11 p.m., First Street will be closed between Dean and Jackson streets, and Hendry Street will be closed between Bay and First streets.
From 7:00 p.m. until 11 p.m., First Street will be closed between Jackson and Lee Streets.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. until 7:05 p.m., traffic will be momentarily diverted along the procession route from Centennial Park to First Street while the procession is in progress.
Affected areas include the Heitman Street at the entrance to Centennial Park; Bay Street between Heitman and Monroe streets; Monroe Street between Bay and First streets; and the intersection of Monroe and First streets.
Once the procession has reached First Street, it will move eastward with a momentary diversion of traffic on First Street from Monroe and Dean streets between 7:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., proceeding through the already-closed section of First Street between Dean and Lee streets between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and completing the procession with a momentary diversion of traffic on First Street between Lee Street and the entrance to the Langford-Kingston and Burroughs homes just east of Fowler between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
The Holiday Stroll is a Fort Myers River District series of festive events in the spanning the 2009 holiday season, which began on Friday, November 20 with the Holiday Art Market.
