Lee County Christians are celebrating with encouraging words from one of music's biggest stars.
Christians say "you too" can help change the world one person at a time.
To the tune of Irish rock-band U2, Christians share the Eucharist, the body and blood of Jesus Christ, calling it the "u2charist."
"I've known U2's music for a couple of decades, and you can hear the band's Christian upbringing in their lyrics," Rev. Bob Hennagin, St. Hilary's Episcopal Church in Fort Myers, says. "With Bono being such a great social activist, the music fits into our church's mission."
Taking some of the star's most passionate issues to St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, kids call on fellow Christians to help one person at a time.
"We can change the world!" kids shout in unison.
"It's about celebrating in a different way, and it's so cool to hear a rock band instead of the same boring songs," Hannah Lunsford, 11, says.
"One person, no matter what age or gender you are, can change the world by standing up for what you believe in," Jamie Mai, 12, says.
They pray to end extreme poverty, to cover hunger once and for all and to shine a light for HIV and AIDS awareness.
"Christ comes to us in a lot of different ways," Rev. Hennagin says. "The most common is in the face of those in need, so when we serve them, we serve Him."
The congregation says the change of pace is fun, but the message remains the same.
"We want to expose the truth of the Word, whether it's through Elizabethan language or through the songs of U2," Rev. Hennagin says.
Money collected at Sunday's offerings goes to organizations like SAVE Darfur and REACH Rwanda.
