Charlotte County - WINK News has new information about a murder investigation. In late April, we told you about a child who told deputies he saw his step-father kill his mother.
WINK News was also first to report Scott Huss's criminal past and his history of violence toward his wife. Now we've uncovered new allegations that the victim's child told his teacher about the violence, but no action was taken.
Sheriffs reports detail how Scott Huss abused his wife and children. Now, the Charlotte County school district wants to know who else knew about the abuse.
Yana Huss's 8-year-old son, from a previous relationship, attended school at Myakka River Elementary in Port Charlotte. The boy's teacher told a local newspaper he admitted to her that Scott Huss choked him and put a gun to his head.
Just days after the teacher says she learned of the abuse the boy allegedly witnessed his step-father stab his mother to death.
Under Florida law, teachers, principles and other leaders must immediately report any suspicions of abuse to the Florida abuse hot line but the Charlotte school district isn't sure if this teacher did that.
The teacher told a newspaper reporter that she told a guidance counselor about the abuse.
Scott Huss was in court yesterday fighting the department of children and families for custody of the couple's two-year old daughter.
