GPS Units Get A Boost

Upgrade can keep you from getting a ticket

By David Bodden

NAPLES, Fla. - Think of it as G-P-S meets radar detector.

A company called, Phantom Alert, has developed software to add some very important points of interest or POI's to your G-P-S unit.

The subscription service asks users to input locations of things like red light cameras, D.U.I. checkpoints and even speed traps onto their website.

The information is confirmed and then subscribers can download the information into their G-P-S units.

When you come within a certain distance of one of these "danger areas" your G-P-S unit will let you know with an audible or verbal alert.
The company says the program is legal in all states.
