NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Two armed robbers were on the loose Monday after deputies said they robbed a Bank of America in the Del Tura Plaza on Tamiami Trail in North Fort Myers.
The robbers wore ski masks and they really scared a customer when he said they pointed a gun at him.
"I head the noise," Bob McCarthy said. "I turned around; there's a guy standing there pointing a gun at me."
It's the last thing Bob McCarthy thought would happen to him at his bank.
"Then he yelled get down on the floor, so I laid down on the floor. They were only there a few minutes, and bang, they're gone."
The sheriff's office said they got away with an undisclosed amount of money, and getting a description of the culprits will be tough.
Tony Schall with LCSO said, "They were wearing masks. They were wearing black gloves, so obviously they were concealing their identities as well as they could."
McCarthy said the entire crime happened right in front of his eyes.
"Then they went to the teller, said put the money in the bag - no dye pack. They left when they got the dough. The car was out front here with the motor running, door open. I didn't see any driver in the car - just the two fellows that robbed the bank."
Minutes later, deputies searched a car found across the street, but no one was inside.
At the end of the day, the sheriff's office said the most important thing was that no one was hurt.
"They had a couple weapons on them, so of course the tellers complied immediately, and thankfully no body was hurt," Schall said.
The sheriff's office said that car they searched was involved in the robbery.
The two suspects are still on the loose Monday night.
