LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Electricity is back for customers on Captiva Island.
People were without power for more than 20 hours after a massive outage began on Saturday night.
Crews were working to restore electricity to Captiva Island after a wide spread outage knocked out power to the Island as well as to residents on Sanibel Island.
By 1:00a.m. power was restored to 2,500 customers on Sanibel.
However, several customers on Captiva Island remained without power into the evening.
LCEC crews worked through the night making repairs but the damage is more extensive than anticipated and additional materials will be needed.
Material arrived Sunday morning and additional crews have been added to sped up restoration.
At this time, the cause of the damage is not known.
It appears that the event was triggered by a device failure in the substation.
