Plane crashes in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - A plane makes an emergency landing in Charlotte County on Friday afternoon.

It went down in a wooded area in Port Charlotte near Midway Boulevard and Lauzon Avenue.

The pilot told deputies he heard a "pop" sound and then the engine failed.

The plane first hit brush and then flipped around before coming to a stop.

WINK News was there to see the pilot reunited with his family.

One of the passengers was taken to the hospital after having a seizure about an hour after the crash.

No one else was hurt.

The FAA is now investigating.
