WINK EXCLUSIVE: Robbers caught on video

By WINK News

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A grocery store owner's security system catches two men breaking in and using power tools to crack a safe.

It happened at Monterrey Grocery on Gunnery Road in Lehigh Acres around 3:30am Thursday.

Grocery store owner Conrado Ayala says he came into the store this morning and found one safe ripped open and another was missing. The second safe was ditched outside the store.

The two suspects bore a hole through the walk-in refrigerator wall and went right to the managers office. As soon as they set foot in the store more than a dozen surveillance cameras flipped on.

Video shows one suspect using a crow bar in an attempt to pry open a safe. When that didn't work, he brought in a power drill and began cutting.

The high definition video shows two men in the office with sparks and dust filling the room.

Ayala says the two made off with cash and cigarettes. He says he hopes what they left behind lands them in jail.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Crimestoppers and 1-800-780-TIPS.
