FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers' yearly boat show was back downtown shutting down roads and increasing traffic- but did the 37th annual event create enough business to keep downtown afloat?
Vendors say yes.
Tom Nichols has been selling boats at this show for almost forty years.
When is comes to sales, this year, he says he can't complain.
He says, "They may not be out buying that 60 foot yacht..."
However, he says- they're buying!
Nichols says his company sold more than 16 boats during this year's show which started on Thursday.
Nichols says the prices are lower then they've been in years.
John Dickey and his family plan on buying a boat from another vendor that costs 10 thousand dollars less than it's sticker price.
Boat vendors weren't the only ones to benefit from the Boat Show.
"There's a lot of new faces that I haven't seen in the bar before and a lot of new faces that I haven't seen downtown before," says Matt Kingorn General Manager of City Tavern.
Bars and restaurants also reaped the benefits of hundreds of extra people spending time downtown.
