A Lee County family is heartbroken after someone stole their horse from a farm off Alico Road.
"It's like losing one of your children," said owner Robin Ray. "It rips my heart out that someone would come take my baby."
That "baby" is a quarter horse named "Irish Tripple Dream". The family last saw the horse Monday, by Tuesday morning the animal was gone. Sheriff's Deputies noticed foot and hoof prints leading away from the farm.
"To come take her in the middle of the night, it just isn't right," said Ray.
According to the Rays, the animal is worth thousands of dollars, but they consider her a beloved pet.
The family has put up posters with the horse's picture and posted it on myspace, facebook and craigslist.
"All I want is her back," said Ray.
