LEE COUNTY, Fla. - There are too many wild cats in Lee County, and Animal Services is asking for volunteers to help fix the problem.
The Trap-Neuter-and Return program, or TNR, began in March and focuses on sterilizing feral cats as a means of population control.
Currently, there is only one volunteer working for the program.
"I need volunteers from Cape Coral, North Fort Myers, South Fort Myers, central Fort Myers to help me, so when we get complaints of strays and ferals in an area, we can send the volunteer that lives nearest that area to go out and investigate that complaint," said volunteer BJ Gerald.
The county-funded program is an alternative to euthanasia.
Now animal control needs help to control the feral cat population
There is a volunteer meeting coming up Saturday, November 14Th from 2pm-3pm at the Lee County Animal Services Center
