Cape Coral - A madman, a wife beater, and thieves.
This is just a taste of the allegations about some high ranking officers in the Cape Coral Police Department.
It's all outlined in a four page letter, written anonymously by someone claiming to be a fellow officer.
In the letter, the person calls into question the integrity of some high ranking officers.
The letter is addressed to all the local media, even Governor Charlie Crist.
The person says the letter is meant to highlight the alleged abuse the department is getting away with.
Chief Rob Petrovich says the letter is doing just the opposite.
"I don't believe from my understanding, this is a whistle blower. I think this is an act of total destruction this wasn't constructive," Chief Petrovich said.
He made the comment during a press conference Friday morning.
At the press conference, Chief Petrovich addressed some of the accusations in the letter.
Those accusations include calling one Assistant Chief a wife beater and accusing another officer of sexually assaulting his step daughter.
The chief says these accusations aren't based on facts or all the facts.
"I'm certainly not happy. I'm not pleased. I do think it's cowardly act," he said.
Despite his distaste for the letter, Chief Petrovich is investigating the accusations.
He says some of the claims may have happened almost fifteen years ago.
Members of the police union are also getting hoping to get some answers.
"I was shocked. Very disappointed in someone. None of these issues were ever brought to us," Detective Kurt Grau, Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Both the police union and the department are urging the person who wrote the letter to come forward, so they can resolve the accusations.
However the person who wrote the letter, says they hesitate revealing their identity for fear of retaliation, saying they don't want to be the victim of an "accidental discharge" during a SWAT training lesson.
