FORT MYERS, Fla- Business is booming for local process servers who have the daunting job of delivering the bad news when someone is being subpoenaed to court, their home is being foreclosed, or they are being sued.

Joe Cripe is on the road from 8am until 10 pm 6 days a week delivering summons, subpoenas, credit collections, evictions and most often foreclosure notices.

The real estate meltdown is now fueling his business which makes up for 75% of his daily workload.

"About 2 months ago I had someone throw himself across the hood of my car and eventually the sheriff had to come out and help me," said Cripe.

Cripe said he doesn't worry about his safety, but has had some unforgettable moments.

He said most people are not surprised by his foreclosure deliveries but for others the unexpected brings confrontation.

Cripe said most often, people just have questions about the next step.

While southwest Florida wriggles free from the foreclosure chokehold, Cripe will be knocking on doors.
