FORT MYERS- One man is hospitalized following an overnight shooting in Fort Myers.

Early Saturday morning at 12:18 the Fort Myers Police Department responded to an assault at 4212 Desoto Avenue.

Upon arrival police learned the assault stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two groups of girls.

During the dispute one person from each side called a male friend to help.

28 year old Terrance Scott arrived to the parking lot and grabbed an aluminum bat.

27 year old Jimmy Kendrick arrived on scene and had a gun concealed in his waistband.

A spokesperson for the Fort Myers Police Department says, at some point Kendrick shot Scott.

Scott then got into a friend's car and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Police arrested Kendrick for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.

Kendrick is being held at the Lee County Jail.
