By WINK News

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - Two Southwest Florida soldiers were hit by car and killed on Florida's east coast on Saturday night.

It happened on State Road 70 in St. Lucie County, just north oF Lake Okeechobee.

The Florida Highway Patrol identifies the victims as 24 year-old Joshua Baker of North Fort Myers and 21 year-old Jonathan Peterson of Fort Myers.

The Highway Patrol's report says the two men had stepped out their car and were arguing in the middle of the road; that's when another car came along and hit them both.

Family friends tell WINK News that Baker and Peterson were both in the Army, and were on their way home to surprise their families before shipping off to Iraq.
