COLLIER COUNTY - Dozens of anti-abortion activists protested in front of Planned Parenthood On Monday. The women's health clinic is offering abortions for the first time in 16 years.
"I wanted to be a voice for the children who have no voice," says abortion-rights activist Mary Jo Klein. "I believe that each unborn child has dignity and has all the rights that we have."
Many of the protesters were from the local Catholic community, Ave Maria. Other activists were from the Naples Pro-life Council.
Even national anti-abortion advocates showed up.
"Planned Parenthood is abortion incorporated," says Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-life Action League.
Planned Parenthood asked their supporters not to show up today, so they wouldn't add to the crowd. But one abortion-rights advocate says she's glad they're offering women full access to reproductive healthcare.
"I think its well overdue," says abortion-rights advocate, Cassie Dennis. "There's obviously a need for it if people are coming in all day for this." So, I think its really important that they have that."
But, anti-abortion advocates say they won't back down.
"Hopefully we'll reach many hearts today and every Monday as long as this is here," says Father Robert from Ave Maria. "We're going to continually try to end this horrendous practice."
