By Cristin Severance, WINK News

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Police arrested two people for breaking into homes and getting away by boat! It happened in the area of NE 3rd Terrace.

A Cape Coral couple was home Sunday when they say they heard someone trying to break into their home through a side door.

"I quick grabbed the phone, grabbed my pistol, called 911," said the homeowner.

"Nobody had any business being in our house especially when we are in our home," he said.

They say officers arrived while the suspects were riffling through the their cars in the garage.

"They just start running towards the back canal and tasered one guy I believe, and then two of them hopped in the water," he said.

Police ran after and arrested Nicholas Wilson. They found another suspect in a boat in the canal behind the home. He's a juvenile so WINK News won't use his name. Police say the boat was filled with stolen items like electronics and tools.

"What are they like the pirates out there on the seas coming by boat?," said the homeowner.

They say Wilson and the two men got away with some money and damaged the door where they broke in.

The couple is getting a security system but feel like they'll never be the same.

The victims say three people broke into the home. Police have not yet arrested the third person.
