FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - A water main break and then a broken water valve forced a water shutoff for all of Fort Myers Beach.

Crews have repaired the broken water pipe, but are still working to replace the broken valve.

The water main broke in the Times Square area about 5:30 Wednesday. Crews for Beach Water worked into the night to fix that problem. At 11:00, they noticed water bubbling to the surface in the Times Square plaza just in front of "Pete's Time Out" restaurant. Water pressure has continued to build inside the water main and is filling the hole, preventing crews from repairing the problem.

Restaurants like "Pete's Time Out" have not opened this morning. The water is going to be shutdown for all of Estero Island. Once water is restored, a boil water notice will be in effect. That could last 48 hours.
