By Max Turnier, WINK News

FORT MYERS, Fla. - As Lee County Schools prepare to cut costs, contract negotiations are under way with the teachers staff union.

The School Board has said they will give what they can considering a $69 million cut in the budget.

It is estimated that Lee County schools could receive $27 million as a part of the economic stimulus.

Union members are expecting a one year contract that offers more financial flexibility in a tight fiscal year.
