Fighting over model planes?

By Nicole Papageorge, WINK News

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A man faces charges after deputies say he got into a fight about a model plane.

Deputies say 55-year-old Stephen Young hit a model airplane pilot in the groin and punched him in the face after the pilot allegedly flew his plane over Young's house.

The pilot is part of a model plane club called the Collier Fun Flyers. They can be found at least three days a week at The Collier County Fairgrounds. But, the fairgrounds border a lake and a gated community called the Waterways.

Deputies arrested Young and charged him with grand theft and battery on a person over age 65.

There are signs posted around the field saying pilots are supposed to keep their planes away from the lake and the community. But, Young's son says the planes have been over their homes before.

"Apparently the board's been complaining about it, they've been asked several times to stop flying the planes," says Shane Young.
