UPDATE: North Fort Myers rape suspect search

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - The search continues for a man wanted in connection to the alleged rape of a woman in the area near Orange Grove Boulevard and Waterways Estates.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office tells WINK News at this point in the investigation, it appears the crime was random and the victim did not know her attacker.

Deputies have boosted patrols in the community, which is routine when a crime like this occurs.

Deputies were called to the North Fort Myers home around 3:52pm on Thursday in regards to an occupied burglary. When they got on scene, the adult female victim told them the man had entered her home without her knowledge and raped her.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20's, 5'9 to 6'0 tall, last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

If you saw anything suspicious in the area or know who is responsible for this crime, you are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Deputies are searching for a North Fort Myers burglary suspect. It happened in an area near the intersection of St. Claire Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard.

The victim says she was also sexually assaulted.

Suspect description:
- White male
- Age: 20's
- Height: Between 5'9'' and 5'10' tall
- Wearing blue jeans, a green hooded sweatshirt and black tennis shoes.

Due to the nature of the crime, detectives with the Special Victim's Unit of Major Crimes have been assigned to continue the investigation.

Anyone who may know the identity of the person responsible for this violent felony crime, or has additional information, is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 dollars, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
