PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Punta Gorda Police Detectives tell WINK News they arrested two people after a month long internet-based prostitution investigation.

Punta Gorda residents Jacie L. Palumbo, 25, and 50-year-old Alan L. Russo were arrested.

Detectives say after receiving an anonymous tip of possible prostitution activity, detectives were able to view advertisements of "Erotic Services" through the popular social networking website Craigslist.com. They also found similar advertisements on websites such as Travslist.org and Backpage.com.

On Friday November 14, 2008, in collaboration with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office and the State of Florida Probation Office, detectives phoned the number provided in the advertisements and were given directions to a Punta Gorda Isles home.

Once at the house, an undercover detective met with the woman in the ad, who police say twice agreed to exchange sex for money and she was taken into custody. That woman was Palumbo. Russo was in an adjacent room and later arrested.

Palumbo was arrested and charged with Prostitution and Violation of Probation. She is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond. Russo was arrested and charged with Deriving Support from the Proceeds of Prostitution, Maintaining a House of Prostitution, and Violation of Probation. He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.
