Wedding guest busted, accused of stealing from bride

By WINK News

SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A wedding guest is busted, accused of stealing from other guests...even the bride.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Alessandro Tumminello was caught going through a storage room by a security guard working the wedding.

It happened at the Forest Country Club in South Fort Myers.

When confronted, he allegedly told the guard his father was a member of the club.

The guard didn't buy that story and reported it to the wedding planners.

They tell us they knew something was up, because they saw Tumminello leave with a duffel bag and then return to the party.

When they went to check the storage room they noticed some had obviously gone through wallets and purses belonging to the wedding guests.

"I think one of the most disturbing or saddest things we saw was one of the flower girl's Hannah Montana purse had been dumped and strewn everywhere. So, it was disappointing," explained planner, Noelle Charlet.

Turns out several members of the bridal party, including the bride and the planners were missing cash, cameras, credit cards, even hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards given to the bride!

"We definitely tried to keep in from the bride as long as possible so she could enjoy her day, it was her perfect day," said planner Noelle Melanson, "But, when it came time to discern what she actually lost, her mother broke it to her."

Deputies were able to return most of the stolen items found in a duffel bag Tumminello was seen leaving with.

He was booked on theft charges.

As for the newlyweds, the planners tell us they didn't want to let such a "brazen" act overshadow their day.
