NAPLES, Fla. - Ghouls, witches, and skeletons lined the tables in one of the dining rooms at St. George and the Dragon restaurant in Naples Thursday evening. All of the items had been hanging on walls and from the ceilings throughout the restaurant, until the fire marshal came in today, and told the owners those items were a fire hazard.
"Pretty much everything had to come down right then and there," Kevin Ginos, the owner's son said.
It took almost one month to put up the decorations, and its a tradition that St. George and the Dragon has been known for for the last 35 years.
"I guess somebody didn't like it, or somebody complained," Ginos said.
While the owners of St. George and the Dragon say they plan to comply with the fire marshal's orders, they are still disappointed. So are many of the regular customers here.
"Its disappointing, year, but I guess everyone's got to be safe," Dan Sexton says.
"If that's the law and that's the way they want it, there isn't much you can do about it," Ginos adds.
But this time, the law may cost St. George and the Dragon some business. After a slow summer, the owners were banking on their annual Halloween crowd to improve business, but with the decorations down, that hope is looking grim.
"The way the last year and summer's been going, its not helping any," Ginos says.
