More than just Obama & McCain; 14 tickets on Florida ballot for President

WINK NEWS - Most people are familiar with the presidential and vice presidential tickets from the Republicans and Democrats. But when you vote for president, there will be 14 choices on the Florida ballot. There are third parties you may have heard of, some that just started this year, and one write-in candidate.
In national polls Ralph Nader and Bob Barr both usually get a few votes. According to the Real Clear Politics poll average Nader and Barr are both polling in single digits nationally.
Independent candidate Ralph Nader and his running mate Matt Gonzalez are running as independents around the nation. To gain traction in many states Nader is being endorsed by smaller parties. In Florida they have been endorsed by a new party that just formed in 2008, the Ecology Party of Florida.
The other third party candidate that often receives at least a few mentions in national polls is former a Republican United State House of Representative member from Georgia, Bob Barr. Barr is now running for president on the Libertarian ticket. Barr's running mate is Wayne Allyn Root.
Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney is also a former United State House of Representatives member from Georgia. McKinney was a Democrat before bolting to the Green Party. McKinney lost her re-election bid for Congress in the Democrat primary after a scuffle she had with a Capitol Police Officer. Rose Clement is McKinney's running mate.
The Constitution Party of Florida has nominated Chuck Baldwin. Baldwin is a founder and minister at the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola. His running mate is Darrell Castle.
Alan Keyes, who ran for president in 1996, 2000, and 2008 as a Republican is now the America's Independent Party's candidate for President. Keyes was also selected to run for U.S. Senate as a Republican against Barack Obama in 2004 when Republican nominee Jack Ryan withdrew. Keyes is running with Brian Rohrbough.
The Prohibition Party is also an option on Florida's ballot. Gene Amondson has run for President on the party ticket in 2004 and this year. Leroy Pletten the the number two person on the ticket.
There are three parties that support socialism with their name. Florida Socialist Workers Party has James Harris and Alyson Kennedy as their ticket.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation - Florida has fielded Gloria La Riva and Eugene Puryear to run for president and vice president. In 1994 and 1998, La Riva was the Peace & Freedom Party candidate for governor of California. She was also an independent candidate for vice president in every election from 1984 to 2000.
Brian Moore is the presidential candidate for Socialist Party of Florida. Moore lives in Hernando County. His running mate is Stewart Alexander.
The Boston Tea Party of Florida formed in 2008. Charles Jay is the party's nominee for president. John Wayne Smith, the state's party chairman, is the vice presidential candidate. The party supports reducing the size, scope and power of government at all levels and on all issues.
Objectivist Party of Florida also formed in 2008. The Objectivist Party seeks to promote Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism in the political realm. Thomas Robert Stevens and Alden Link are the ticket for this party.
Gary Nettles is a write-in candidate for president, running with Brad Krones. Nettles lives in Tarpon Springs.
