Program designed to help you pay bills
NAPLES, Fla. - There are programs designed to help you pay bills if you're in a crunch. Those services can be found at places like the Salvation Army. Florida Power and Light gives them money each year to help people in crisis situations. That program is called “Care To Share”. People at the Salvation Army in Naples say right now, they're providing as much as $10,000 dollars in assistance each month.
To be eligible for FPL “Care To Share” program funds, customers must: * have an income that falls at or below agency income guidelines, typically 150% of poverty level * have experienced a personal or family crisis * have exhausted other available energy assistance sources, such as government funded programs, and * meet other criteria that may be used in determining customer eligibility, as identified by the qualifying agency. To determine eligibility, customers can contact the partner agency that handles FPL Care To Share qualification for their local area. For more information, visit www.FPL.com and click on the "Community Involvement / Care To Share Program/ Care To Share Partner Agencies" links - or contact FPL at the telephone number found on your monthly electric bill. FPL customers may also join with the company to help those in need by donating to FPL Care To Share any time during the year through their monthly electric bill. FPL recently added a new donation option to the FPL Pay Online web-based program, providing a quick and easy way to pay your bill and help those in need. In addition to the $1 million contribution to Care To Share, FPL's Low Income Weatherization Program, in partnership with government and non-profit agencies, can assist low-income customers reduce the cost of heating and cooling their homes. To help low-income customers achieve energy savings, a free home energy survey is available. FPL will cover $10 of the cost of installing weather stripping, caulking and door sweeps. FPL also provides $35 toward the cost for inspecting air conditioning units to identify those needing maintenance. |
